I believe that effective communication requires creativity, curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to view the world through different lenses. My career doesn't require fine art, but my love of creativity demonstrates my capability to bring fresh eyes to each project and my ability to reimagine concepts beyond face value.
The approach I take with my art is very similar to the approach I take with my life: I genuinely love learning new things, enjoying the process, and trying to make each piece just a little bit better than the one before.
Below are a few examples of my watercolor, ceramics, photography, and digital art.
I use Photoshop to enhance my own photographs in an understated way.
There is a distinct difference between graphic design and digital art; while I'm skilled in the former, I'm still exploring the latter. All of the vectors were created with Adobe Illustrator. While I enjoy Illustrator and can use it proficiently, I am excited to learn Procreate in the future (stay tuned for a new section on this page). I'm also exploring generative AI tools like Adobe Firefly.
I created a website to coordinate Washington camping trips for my friends and family for summer 2021, and this was the logo I made for it.
Campfire, based on a tutorial by Jason Hoppe of Luminous Works
This reminds me of a video game-- a reimagination of an image I found on Pinterest.
I'm a self-taught watercolor painter. Through a combination of books, tutorials, and a lot of time staring at beautiful landscapes with a paintbrush in my hand, I've filled sketchbooks and started to develop my style.
A very rainbow trout.
A mini painting of some volcano or another, inspired by Western Washington landscapes.
Misty pines (a values study using only one color).
Washington trails in the fall.
My little brother's wedding in the Tetons, painted while sitting on a tree stump.
A sketchbook page full of color.
This is a collection of functional pottery I created inspired by the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. I've used several different glazing techniques to capture the look and feel of the Cascades.
